Warm Soups for Cold Days

What’s better on a cold fall or winter day than a steamy bowl of delicious soup? Many soups are easy to make and can quickly warm up the bellies of an entire family. These 2 soups are so tasty and kids will love them. Try one the next time you need to whip up a wholesome meal.
Corn Chowder

Corn is a kid-friendly veggie and is great as part of a chunky soup. You can use canned corn to make the recipe as simple as possible. Here’s how to make a pot to feed 4 people.

You will need:

2 12oz cans corn kernels

1 12oz can creamed corn

2 12oz cans veggie or chicken broth

Salt and pepper to taste

1 Diced tomato

Combine all ingredients in a large soup pot. Heat on low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. For a thicker soup, replace one can of broth for an additional can of creamed corn. If you like your soup with a little heat, sprinkle some chili flakes into the pot or onto the individual bowls before serving.

Shells and Veggies

Your kids will definitely eat their veggies when they are floating in a mouthwatering bowl of this shells and veggies soup. Serves 4.

You will need:

4 servings of cooked shell pasta

2 large carrots diced

2 large celery stalks diced

One medium sweet onion diced

One medium potato (or sweet potato/yam) cooked and diced

2 12oz cans veggie or chicken broth

Salt and pepper to taste
Combine all ingredients (except the pasta) in a large soup pot and heat on a medium-low heat until the veggies are fork tender. Just before serving, add in the pasta so it reheats through. Serve and enjoy!
