How to Look Refreshed if You’ve Been Up All Night with Baby

Having a new baby is a blessing. It is also a major reason new parents get very little sleep at night. While you absolutely love your new bundle of joy and may even delight in those 3 a.m. feeding sessions and snuggles, those sleepless nights will no doubt take a toll on your once vivacious appearance. You may find yourself with dark circles under your eyes, a sallow complexion, and an overall drained appearance. Here are some ways to look refreshed when you don’t necessarily feel that way.

De-Puff Your Eyes

The eye area is the first place on the face that gives away just how tired you are. Take a few minutes in the morning to do away with those puffy, sleepy-looking eyes. Here are two ways that can yield obvious results.

  1. Tea Bags– Take two wet tea bags and place them in the refrigerator until very cold. Lay back and place one tea bag over each eye (shut your eyes first) for about 15 minutes. The combination of the cool bags with the soothing properties of the tea will refresh your eye area to make you look well-rested. It’s quite relaxing too!
  2. Cucumber Slices – Slice a fresh, cool cucumber and place a sliver over each eye. Be sure to keep your eyes closed for about 15 minutes as the cucumbers do their magic. Similar to the tea bags, the coolness combined with the healing properties of the cucumber will do wonders to the tired look of your eyes. Enjoy the rest of the cucumber in a salad for lunch!

Stay Hydrated

Making sure your body well-hydrated is so important. It will keep your organs and systems running as they should especially when you may be run down due to a lack of sleep. Keep water bottles handy and sip tea or seltzer whenever you can. Your skin will show more luminosity and rosiness when you’ve been drinking adequate amounts of fluids. Something so simple can make a major difference in how you feel and look. Bottoms up!

Do Some Exercise

While physical activity may be the last thing on your mind when you’ve only slept for a few hours, a bit of movement will actually perk you up and make you look better too. A few minutes of cardiovascular exercise will bring a dewy glow to your skin and a brightness to your features. It may just give you an added burst of energy to take care of your little one too! Plus, you will feel better about your physique when you take care of your body.
