What NOT to Do in 2022

5 New Year’s “No-Nos” – Steer Clear of These Attitudes, Actions, and Activities

We often talk about what we want to do in the coming year. When the New Year comes around, we reflect on our experiences and past events, hoping for the next year to be better. But what about the things we ought to avoid?

Here are 5 “no-nos” we can all live without. You’ll be happier, healthier, more positive, and more productive. These are important for your children to learn as well at an age-appropriate level.

Dwelling on the Past

Learning from our mistakes is how we grow. Nobody is perfect, and we can use our experiences to our advantage, even if they went wrong. Dwelling on lingering doubts of what could have gone differently will get you nowhere. You cannot “undo” the past, so do things differently moving ahead. Make peace with the situation and strive to do better next time around.

“Vegging Out”

Relaxing and unwinding from time to time is important for our health and well-being. It helps us regroup and recharge. But too much sitting around, watching TV, playing on our smart devices, and mindlessly snacking are habits that can lead to poor health. Move more in 2022! Staying active is so important.

Saying “Yes” to Everything

Being a “people pleaser” all the time can take its toll on your mental health. You need to invest in yourself and your family. You can’t be expected to do every favor and accept all invitations. “No” isn’t a bad word as long as you are courteous. People will understand that you can’t do it all. It’s all about balance.

Skipping Sleep

Getting adequate sleep is essential for your daily functioning. When you’re worn out, you won’t be able to tackle your to-dos or think clearly. Be sure to hit the sack at a reasonable hour. Keep your room cool and dark and turn off the technology well before you’re ready for bed. Avoid heavy meals too close to bedtime.

Putting Yourself Down

We all have those days when we’re not feeling fabulous. Just like you wouldn’t have unkind words for a loved one (or even a stranger), use your inner voice to be forgiving to yourself too. Positive affirmations and self-confidence will lift your spirits. Slap on a smile and you’ll feel better instantly.

What are your goals for 2022? What will you no longer do to make this year better than the last? Any advice for AMC parents and their children?
