Spotlight on Our: 164th Street Location

In an interview with Alessandra Long, the dedicated director of our 164th Street location, shared what makes this school truly special.

What makes your school stand out from others? Our school is unique in the way we foster a welcoming, community-driven environment where everyone feels like they belong. While it may not be immediately obvious, our commitment to creating a nurturing atmosphere sets us apart. We focus on building strong, personal connections with every child and family, making our school a place where everyone feels valued.

What is something special about your staff that you’d like to highlight? We are incredibly proud of our diverse staff, who bring a wealth of cultural experiences to our school. This diversity allows us to celebrate a wide range of traditions and holidays, making our environment lively and inclusive. Our team’s enthusiasm for creating a fun, engaging atmosphere is evident in everything we do, from daily interactions to the many joyful celebrations we host.

Can you share a recent success story or achievement from your school? We’re on the cusp of expanding our offerings with a second Toddler class, hopefully opening in September. While there are still a few steps to go, this potential addition reflects our growth and commitment to meeting the needs of our community. We’re optimistic and working diligently to make it a reality.

What unique programs or activities do you offer that benefit the students? One standout program is our weekly Sports class, led by our dedicated coach, Mr. Diandre. This program is integral to our curriculum, as it helps children develop essential gross motor skills and learn the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship. It’s a highlight of the week for our students and a key part of our holistic approach to education.

How do you create a positive and engaging learning environment at your school? Building strong relationships is at the heart of our approach. I make it a priority to keep my door open to both staff and families, ensuring that everyone feels heard and supported. Whether it’s discussing a concern or sharing a joyful moment, I strive to connect with everyone in the building on a personal level, creating a warm and engaging atmosphere where people feel valued and understood.
