Spotlight on Ancilma Maxwell – Family Child Care (FCC) Department
A message from the FCC:
Ancilma Maxwell creates a safe and positive environment for the children. She uses play-based learning while being responsive with her instructions. Ms. Maxwell is caring because she uses positive strategies for behavior management, such as wait time and acknowledgement.
Ms. Maxwell listens to children’s cues. When observing Ms. Maxwell and her children, she is encouraging and motivated. She welcomes participation.
Family relationships are important to Ms. Maxwell and she has excellent communication with the children’s families. She is a great example of a provider who implements the LPC and Values curriculum in her daycare program.
In the pictures below we AMC students participating in water play. This is a great mixed-age sensory activity. Ms. Maxwell was encouraging the children to share, because this is a goal from the values curriculum.
Ms. Maxwell gathered cups and plates so that the children could share with one another. The children were engaged and used their socialization and fine motor skills to interact.
This is an awesome example of play-based learning!
