How the Kids Can Help to Prepare Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is such a joyful time of year. It’s a holiday all about family, so it’s important to make the kids part of the tradition, even from an early age. Here are some ways the kids can happily help you prepare for the holiday and impress your family and other guests if you are hosting the feast.

Make Decorative Seating Cards

Seating cards help everyone feel comfortable in where they’ll be sitting and add a personal touch to the table. Let the kids draw the cards with Thanksgiving inspired colors and images. If your kids are too young to write the guests’ names clearly, you can do that for them and they can design the rest. You can even cut a card into a turkey or pumpkin shape for an extra holiday touch! Guests will feel like you took some extra time to make them feel special and at home.

Set the Table

If the kids are old enough and can reach, let them set the holiday table with your guidance. It’s good for them to learn how to set a proper table and the kids will take pride in their contribution. If you have special China and glassware for holidays, use those so the kids feel extra special. Hopefully, they can help you clean up once the meal is over as well!

Create Fall-Inspired Centerpieces

There’s nothing like a show-stopping table centerpiece to make a holiday table shine. Kids love to show off their artistic talents and letting them make the centerpiece is a great way to help them expand their creativity. They can place fruit in a large vase with dried flowers and mini gourds. Or go for fresh flowers delicately placed inside a cornucopia. Let the kids come up with an idea and you’ll see how beautiful your holiday table will look!
