Shake Up the Morning Cereal Routine

Wake up your morning menu!

Kids tend to be perfectly pleased with a bowl of cold cereal in the morning. Parents love it too – it’s easy and convenient. That said, the same breakfast day after day can become boring, and the kids will soon seek out something new.

Before bringing out the frying pan and muffin tin, stay on the cereal route with some revisions. You can shake up the morning cereal routine with some simple updates, making a plain bowl of cereal a thing of perfection.

Trail Mix Cereal

Create a trail mix breakfast by incorporating some of the classic trail mix ingredients into any cereal bowl. Add nuts, seeds, dried fruit, carob chips, sesame sticks, and yogurt covered raisins. The different tastes and textures will be a delight for your cereal-loving child.

Flavored Milk

Add some sweetness to your kid’s cereal with flavored milk. Vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry are favorites. You’ll probably want to serve a not-too-sweet cereal with the flavored milk to avoid a sugar overload. The kids will love your delicious idea, which would be fun to do perhaps once a week.

Skip the Milk

Instead of milk, serve your kid’s favorite cereal over yogurt, cottage cheese, or frozen yogurt. You can also mix dry cereal with a fruit cup or applesauce. Some kids simply like their cereal dry, which makes for a convenient on-the-go breakfast if you’re running late.

Mix-and-Match

Who says you have to stick with just one type of cereal? Combine two or more in the same bowl for a brand new cereal sensation. When your child can’t decide which cereal to have, this idea is the perfect solution.
