Learning About Nature

Spring is a great time to get kids outside to learn about nature. With the warmer weather and longer days, there are plenty of opportunities to explore the outdoors and teach kids about the world around them.

Here are some ideas for teaching kids about nature during springtime.

  1. Take a Nature Walk: Going on a nature walk is a great way to introduce kids to the outdoors. Point out different plants, animals, and insects you see along the way. Talk about the different seasons and how they affect the environment.

  3. Visit an Animal Farm or Petting Zoo: Visiting a local farm is a great way to teach kids about where their food comes from. They will learn about the different animals and how they are special. Explain how the farm works and how it helps the environment.

Mommy Poppins has a nice list of some places you can visit on Long Island.
